Where once was the Great Estuary, the confluence of three rivers, now are grazing marshes the support the sweetest grasses. In times past those grasses attracted drovers from the North, even from Scotland, who brought their cattle here to fatten for the London market. They attracted artists too. For where else in Britain can you find such a wide sky?

Walking that marsh road, I could see why artists used to flock to the area to paint the skies. Wow. And it was the perfect day for the sky… clouds in wonderful formations

I didn’t realize Britain had cattle drives, even though I should have!

They don’t have the drives now… it’s all done by lorry. But time was… my grandfather remembers them. He usd to drive his horses along with the cattle to market
