About a month ago Entangle Designs challenged me to write a romantic poem. I don’t do romantic stuff, I said. And then delivered my poem on time.
Well, seems I’ve caught the bug, cos here’s another…
To wait on you, I will not do
What? To make myself a slave to you?
That I’ve chide my sisters not to do.
Be free, be you, do as you need
And DO NOT PLEAD
Then why do I wait
Like a trusting maiden by the gate
Making up reasons when you’re late?
Why do I wait
Like a sixties’ cat sat on the coals
When you don’t call?
Why do I wait
Eyes fixed on the phone
For a text or a tweet
To say something sweet?
To wait on you I will not do
Yet without you
Distracting activities are not fun
My mind races and I’d rather run
Others fill your day when I want to play
Addiction, never thought I would succumb.
Ooohhh Crispina…
Good thing you don’t do romantic stuff. Imagine if you did?
All I can say is I know of what you write.

Innocence. Always innocence. Actually it was sparked by Entangled’s poem earlier today 🙂

You can claim innocence all you like.
Well, whatever sparked it, it sure turned out great

That you, Dale. It was fun to write. Took me about half-an-hour, and a slight edit. Finding that photo took longer

Fun stuff for us to read, too.
Half an hour… glad you don’t “do” these, can you imagine how long it would have taken?

I don’t sweat this stuff. I take years writing a 5-part story, 750,000 words. I ain’t taking long to write a short poem

Of course you don’t. And it takes what it takes, no?

I appreciate you saying. It was quickly run off… seems to be my technique

We can overwork a thing, and in overworking destroy its freshness and appeal

Well, the bug is growing in your mind. Love the slow build up to addiction 🙂

Thanks, Tien. I’m not sure what this bug is, but it’s fun to express it 🙂

Oh Crisp, you’ve hit it out of the ballpark once again. 💕

It happens.
I was a bit like that with playing Rounders at school. (UK school version of baseball). Always slugged it into 2 fields away… the one full of corn

I think this has become a new favourite of yours!! So utterly true. Robert Palmer sings of being Addicted to Love or at least new love. And not to forget Chris Isaac’s Wicked Game. We are all well and truly doomed when cupid lets his arrow fly!! And those of us who think we aren’t susceptible, well think twice. LOL!!!

I almost posted a link to Wicked Game, but reconsidered.
Glad you approve the new me. No more rewrites of fairy tales 🙂

Wicked Game is one of my very favourites…just such a haunting and seductive tone. Yeah, I do like all your word play, whether the flash fiction or the poetry you seem to toss out there with such ease. I can tell you are having fun!!! 🙂

Yea, confidence is booming. Having fun on Twitter. The humous quip has long been my specialty. And as long as you’re chosy, you meet some really nice people. I’ve just been invited to Exmoor. Don’t think he intended to do away with me and sink my body into a bog! I passed on that invitation. After all, it was only to go adder hunting. You know my opinion of snakes 🙂

Thank you. Discovering a new talent… I’ve always been just a silly rhymer

See, you are so good at it. I love this poem, again very relatable and has a tragic beauty. Love it!
