Winter storms make alien sculptures of the beach; every year before the season begins the earth-moving plant is out to flatten it again.
Meanwhile, the tide drives the sea to collide with a side-arm of the pier.

I thank you. I love watching the sea batter against Man’s defences. And this spot has long been a favourite. The currents here are forced to collide crosswise. And it just happened this day the earthmovers were out.

Seen higher, the sea was quite tame that day. It’s the cross-currents, they collide and the sea shoots up into the sky. I get as excited as a kid on a funfair ride!

That’s the way. I might do a burst of say 20 shots if I’m trying to capture just that right moment with a butterfly. But in this case I did take them as separate shots. The sea doesn’t move as fast as a butterfly!!!
