Winter storms make alien sculptures of the beach; every year before the season begins the earth-moving plant is out to flatten it again.
Meanwhile, the tide drives the sea to collide with a side-arm of the pier.
Movement, another title achieved in Maria’s Antonia’s #2020picoftheweek

I thank you. I love watching the sea batter against Man’s defences. And this spot has long been a favourite. The currents here are forced to collide crosswise. And it just happened this day the earthmovers were out.

I love that giant splash against the wall of the pier! And the trucks in the background… perfect!

Thanks. I had to work hard post-production to bring it into sharper focus. It was a rather misty day!

That’s a pretty high splash, there!

Seen higher, the sea was quite tame that day. It’s the cross-currents, they collide and the sea shoots up into the sky. I get as excited as a kid on a funfair ride!

You got exactly the right frame captured, then!

Took ten frames.

Ahhh, that makes sense. Then you can choose the best one!

That’s the way. I might do a burst of say 20 shots if I’m trying to capture just that right moment with a butterfly. But in this case I did take them as separate shots. The sea doesn’t move as fast as a butterfly!!!

It greater noise was the crash as the water hit the wall π

Majestic, it seems like one of those endless, thankless tasks to fight against the sea π

It tends to be done after the equinox, violent disruptive storms are less likely from then on… until winter
