The greenery is fitting, but I am more enthralled by the sea smoothed stones and the single snail shell lurking in the distance….

You spotted the snail, well done. It’s not native; it’s of the French edible variety is the reason I no longer attempt to grow flowers. We have a heavy infestation, and they munch their way through every petal and leaf. Legacy of living in a medieval trading port!
As to the stones, they probably come from a nearby quarry, and their sea-tumble would date to pre-the last Ice Age.

Well, I didn’t think I was going to manage it this week. At least, not without recourse to last year’s photos. But then inspiration hit.

No, yesterday wasn’t so overcast. In fact, it was quite sunny. And very cold. And very windy. But not as windy as later today is forecast to be. But since the storm last weekend, we’ve have gloomy skies and high winds every day. It’s like the storm doesn’t want to go away!

Lovely… won’t be seeing that anytime soon in my neck of the woods… We are under two feet of snow at this time.

As I’ve said before, we don’t often get snow on the coastal strip (makes up for the year-round mists!) And I was going to challenge folks to find the snail, but I doubted any would be able to; it’s very well disguised. BTW, I think it’s just the shell, one of last year’s invaders.

Well, not all-day ay every-day mists. But they tend to sweep in even in mid-summer if the day has started gloriously warm. It rolls in like smoke from a fire, only intensely cold. It scatters the sunbathers from the beach. No chance of over-exposure here 🙂

God’s own land. The question is, which god. It has been said we Brits are a godless lot who have shoved organised religion where the sun don’t shine… however, the recent influx of Muslims have yet to follow suit. They seem to have dug in their heels and become quite devout.

We Quebecers are also an ungodly lot… religion was so shoved down our throats that many have turned their back. Muslims… that is another story – especially in some regions. Not good that they have emigrated to various countries and brought with them the ugly part of their religion.

I remember someone saying… and it was probably Steven Pinker, cos I hang on his every word, and his background suits the tale, that in emigrating, the immigrant clings tighter to their religion, becomes more orthodox as a means of remaining *pure* amongst the non-believers.

I believe it. But, what bugs me, is oft times they leave their country with oppressive religious practices and bring the damn things with them!

Exactly. I never used to think like this but when you read stories of people who live in areas of Paris who can no longer walk in certain districts… it just makes me boil over.

It’s the same in London. And we now how gangs of *groomers* who rape the girls, all underage, and then put them out as prostitutes. And what does our government do? In fairness, they are now beginning to look at it. After 20 long years of it. But everyone’s so scared to say the obvious, despite the mountain of undeniable evidence. Cos that is racism. Oh, I forgot to say, the girls are white. Stomach turning.

Thank you. Confession… this is my garden. Okay, amend that. It is a shared courtyard. When I first moved in I was all enthusiastic about growing flowers in pots. Until I realised what an infestation of snails we had. So I am the one who has abandoned the pots. And the wind has done the rest.
