   I knew they fed on them, but never really pictured them as having been devoured by fungi. But they have to go somewhere don’t they?

     As far as I remember my lessons, they secrete some kind of digestive enzyme, and feed upon the resultant goo.

   Also useful as tinder and a portable fire source. Horseshoe fungus holds an ember for quite some time.

       Most not nearly as recognizable or prevalent though. Always seems to be some nearby in the woods.
