Welcome to my weekly challenge—open to all—just for FUN, FUN, FUN
Here’s how it works:
Every Wednesday I post a photo (this week it’s that one above.)
You respond with something CREATIVE
Here are some suggestions:
- An answering photo
- A cartoon
- A joke
- A caption
- An anecdote
- A short story (flash fiction)
- A poem
- A newly minted proverb, adage or saying
- An essay
- A song—the lyrics or the performance
You have plenty of scope and only two criteria:
- Your creative offering is indeed yours
- Your writing is kept to 150 words or less
If you post a link in the comments section of this post I’ll be able to find it
If you include Crimson’s Creative Challenge as a heading, WP Search will find it (theory)
by ‘Searching’ in the WP Reader (fingers crossed)
Here’s wishing you inspirational explosions. And FUN.
Archaeology finds featured as insets in the tables (outside) at Whitlingham Country Park. Photo taken on a very rainy day.
I suppose I should say, “Alright, I’m hooked!” but I won’t….. hmmmmmm

I was hooked when I saw the display. My daughter had to bully me away. These are my loves, mesolithic and neolithic flints. Isn’t that hand axe something else!

“And here we see the toolkit and weapons developed in 47 BC by the Celtic predecessor of MI6 for its agent, Jambon. Jambon’s attempt to assassinate an unfriendly Roman consul backfired due to confusion over the disorderly Roman calendar of the day; he mistakenly killed an ex-consul. Vowing vengeance, G. Iulius Caesar invaded Britain a few years later. God save the Queen!”

Determined not to lose you this week… I smile, amused with the scenario portrayed with such masterly strokes of your… pen? Keyboard hasn’t the same ring to it. And I take it the queen whom God needs to save is Boudica? Or is it Cartimantua?

I was actually going for the current occupant. But if I had to go with one of those two, it would have to be Cartimantua, as she was recognized as a queen in her own right for longer.

For some reason, and you might remember this, having read it (6 years ago) Raesan refers to Cartimantua as My Little Pony. But I don’t remember why.

LOL. Reason is probably referring to the etymology of the name, “mandu-” being a root for “horse.” Or so Wiki tells me.

See, I knew there was a reason. I must have found that somewhere, knowing how I am for delving into words. But what language is it? Has to be one of the Celtics.

This is good. Much enjoyed. Just a little concerned that the kids might be sealed into plastic to p.r.e.s.e.r.v.e. them. 🙂

I like the notion of these ancient tools being used in a modern murder. Continuity of purpose… hmm.

If it works, you can use it. Thanks Crispina I’m happy you like it. I was a little lost at first with the photo.

The idea of the challenge is to challenge the imagination. And see, it did! 🙂

Yep! It sure did! Don’t know how I got there though.

But you got there. It challenges me too. Then when it comes, I have to get it written and posted.
