At a distance — i.e. while standing close by — these look like any other mushroom-formed fungus.
Ah, but when we move in close…
Undeniably a fibre cap!

What does a fibre cap mean?

Strictly speaking, it’s a family of fungi. But I’ve looked and can’t find a defining quality that unites them. And so I’ve used the label for my fungus cos, you can’t deny, it has a fibrous-looking head. Yet it could belong to several other families.

Up close you can really see their beauty! 😀

I was going to include a close-up of my slippers, for I swear they look remarkably similar!

That means your slippers must be soft and furry! 😀 ❤

They are indeed. And soled with memory foam.

Bordering on obscenity to those of us with filthy minds…… But once I calmed down I did see the whole fiber thing going on too…

Hey, I’ve still to post the undeniably fungi porn. I seem to be holding back on it.

Valentine’s Day 😉

You could have a good idea there. I don’t think it’s right for the Christmas season.

Mind you… with the number of Virgos out there, it would seem Christmas is the time for frolicking without protection 😉

Never thought of it that way. 🙂

Dale has suggested I wait for Valentine’s Day. I do believe Christmas, with its family association isn’t the right time. However, the New Year might be! 🙂

You should get a degree in Fungi. You like it that much. I’ve never seen so many mushrooms. But how could I living in a large city apartment building. You’ve opened my eyes. I’ll never look at a mushroom the same way I used to and that’s a good thing. You’ve help me appreciated them. I do know they’re great on a pizza and wonderful in sauce. I can’t help but think about your slippers. They look cozy. As for the porn thing……hmm that’s another kettle of fish. You do! take great photos! 😊😎

Thanks, Jen. And while I do enjoy the photography, I do not claim to be well-informed regards fungi. Where possible I’ll use guides to identify. But even experts have trouble with some species. And most can’t be given a definite name just by appearance.

They are rather special looking and tipped with my favourite colour to boot!

I seemed to have found rather a lot in that colour this season.

It is a mighty fine colour, though not many agree with me.

Oh, I do. It’s a friendly colour. It goes great with my purple hair! No, truly.

I admit I never put orange and black together for that reason… or yellow and black (bumblebee)

Yea, but you can get away with it when it’s a blouse, a scarf and your hair. After all, my mother was a definite carrot-top, and she wore purple. It’s just the other way roud

Another fascinating fungi! I can see why these are called fibre caps. And what an interesting burst of orange in the middle/top, too. Great find!

But as you see from the long shot, you have to get close before you realise what a fantastic find. 🙂

You have an excellent eye, to spot them from a normal distance away!

Not really. I didn’t realise how awesome until I zoomed into the photo once it was on my computer. I take enormous sized photos so I can zoom right in without losing definition.

They look lovely and furry, have you touched one to see what it did feel like? I’ll wait and see if I’m right about the porn fungi….
LikeLiked by 1 person
No, I haven’t touched. Though the brackets I find that are layer upon layer of threads do feel like they look, so… probably these, fibrous if not fluffy.
And I’d say you’re probably right about the porn. 🙂

🙂 Up close and personal. I’d say that’s what I like best with my photography, be it butterflies, dragonflies, flowers or fungi… or various insects… the camera can show us what the eye would otherwise miss.
