I think it’s cos the pretals hang down. Like they’re flagging. And I was going to include a close-up of one but yesterday, when I uploaded, the head wasn’t entirely online. I was a bit anxious about a medical appointment. Which, as it happens, went fine.

There is an area close by Yarmouth known to locals (and historically) as Fleg Island. The yellow flag abounds there. So do villages of Viking origin. Not sure if the two are connected.

Yea. It was intentional, to have them way-way in the distance. Actually, the shot was on zoom, the flowers truly distant. I took some close-ups, elsewhere on the walk, but they’re past their best now. They’re *flagging*.

I love Irises. Purple are my favorite, but yellow is a close second.

At this time of year, the wild yellow flags are everywhere, wherever the ground is slightly soggy. And where I live, the ground is always slightly soggy!

That was the intention. There are so many shadesd (technically hues) of green. But without that yellow to set it off … and it’s just the right yellow. But it is a distance shot, and it’s not as sharply focused as I’d like.
