Yep, the season has started, they’re here again. Here are some encountered on our walk on 18th September 2026.
As in previous seasons, I do not name the fungi unless I’m sure of the identity, and since fungi aren’t my speciality, I shall leave it to you to google them. Enjoy, you fungi fanatics!

Oh, those fungi sound so interesting. I googled those that grabbed my attention. Some fungus here are toxic, like one from the Amanita genus. Tiger’s eye fungus and a bolete caught my attention, too.

It’s because fungi can be so difficult to identify for certain, and many are poisonous that I won’t name them unless certain. I’d hate to give the info and result in someone’s death.
So remember, all fungi are edible, but some of them only the once
😝😟🤢

So true, many of the fungi are poisonous, so I’d be wary about giving info unless certain, in case someone wants to eat it. I also agree about how difficult to identify them. We get our can of mushrooms from the supermarket, which aren’t poisonous.

I always find fungi fascinating…and i do like mushrooms on toast especially if they were hand picked from the field early hours – although I haven’t done that for a while 😀

I used to go with my grandma to gather mushrooms from the fields for breakfast. But I wouldn’t dare now. I’m bound to pick the wrong ones!

Thank you. I think we all agree with that! Maybe it’s memories of childhood tales. Maybe it’s knowing how essential the fungi are to the life of the planet

I’ve now given up on trying to identify them. I’m letting Google Images have a go at it!
