A few of the butterflies seen on our walk on 27th July 2026. And a damselfly.
🔽 Common Blue Damselfly, lots of these about, not many cooperative 🔼 Meadow Brown
🔼 Lots of these too, but devilishly difficult to photograph. Common Blue. Happy to get this shot 🔽 Green-veined White
🔽 Speckled Wood resting against green, just so we photographers could see it!
🔽 Those that follow are all Gatekeepers. I think we found Gatekeeper Central! So many. But very fast moving
🔼 Love these longer shots! 🔽
🔽 And this one, it would be sacrilege to crop it close
That’s it folks. Hope you enjoyed

The butterflies look really so pretty! They are such little beauties that land to plants and flowers, and that’s awesome. I’ve seen butterflies, but I haven’t seen any damselfly, where I live.
Of course, I enjoyed! Thank you so much for sharing, they made me smile.
Have a wonderful Friday, and may your weekend be joyful! ☺️

Thank you. And you, have a good weekend. I get dragonflies in my garden, though I don’t like terribly close to the river and marshes. But I don’t see damsels

You’re welcome. Thank you! That’s really so gorgeous, but they can be an inconvenience near the river.

How inconvenience. Diving into your face? Perhaps

Perhaps… they may hover into or around my face.

I wish I could photograph so many lovelies on every walk. But weather conditions affect the ‘yield’. And now with the ongoing drought, we’re wondering if the butterflies can find enough flowers. Could be a big dip in numbers next year.

Oh, that’s such a shame.

Yes, isn’t it. Next year’s weather is all up in the air. The worst El Nino on record this year, but the effects felt next year. But not possible yet to predict. High rainfall? Super extreme temps? Storms? Nobody yet is saying

Damselfly flutters by
She’s the best dressed in the sky
Meadow brown and common blue
Beautiful but quiet as you.
Green veined white is resting there
For all to see without a care.
Finally a squadron of gatekeepers descend
Shutting all gates the realm to defend.

These are so beautiful. You should include these pics in the CCC too.

I’ll give that a try. Thank you for the suggestion. Though I don’t post Flyers every week
