🔼 In Sunday’s post I said about Gt Yarmouth’s rows. This one runs from the market place towards the quay. The signage is for Back To Backs, a wonderful pub that’s tucked into there 🔽 No words needed here

🔼 I think this one is Capt Christmas’s Row. Christmas used to be a common name around here 🔽 Many rows are named for the pub on the corner. Lots of corners, lots of pubs!

Love the detail on the old town hall. How nice to have an apartment in a lovely building like that.

The town struggles to provide enough housing. Can’t build to north or south (that’s Caister and Gorleston), can build to east (that’s the sea) nor to west (that’s the estuary & marshes) and it’s not allowed to go up (inadvisable when your foundations comprise a sandbank). And so every vacant existing building, no matter its former function, is converted for living space. Where I lived until I moved in 2021 was a former office, and before that, a former warehouse. But you’d never know it to see it
