30th December 2025, we didn’t want to spend hours sitting on buses, buses likely to be swamped with sneezing, sniffling folk. We decided instead to walk along the river to the harbour’s mouth. We set out an hour before sunrise. Please join us…
🔼 Our 3rd river crossing (not long opened) provides a frame for the bright, breezy busy industrial wharf. The hint of pink sky we take as a promise of a stunning sunrise 🤞 🔽 I saw three ships…
🔽 One side, neat and busy. The other side, crumbling as it decays
🔽 We watched the Atlantica Carrier nose into the river and thrum its way into port
🔽 Harbour’s mouth. That bollard always attracts my camera. Love its shape
🔼 We stop awhile to watch the waves roll in, looking like a comfy pillow 🔽 Harbour lights
View from Gorleston pier. That’s not a pleasure pier, unless your pleasure is fishing 🔼 Looking riverward 🔽 Looking beachward
🔼 The sun shines bright as the waves roll in. Is it cold? It is. But there’s a cafe near here and I smell coffee 🔽
🔽 One final shot before seeking that coffee and warming my hands. Couldn’t resist the shadow-selfie!
Hope you enjoyed. It was slightly different to the usual. See Tuesday Treats for more photos from the walk

What a gorgeous way to start the day!

I love that walk. Especially in winter when, fingers crossed, it means walking into the sunrise. We’re not a major port, and we’ve certainly declined since Middle Ages. But as a port, it is surviving. Mainly due to servicing oilfields and offshore windfarms.
