No fungi hunt through muddy woods this week. A warm and dry hunt this week instead – through the archives. I was looking for a collection I hadn’t yet posted. I found Tyrrell’s Wood, 8th October 2019. Truth, I had posted a couple of these but the rest will be new to you. Enjoy
🔼Puffball. A big one. Not sure it’s a Giant Puffball. Probably a Meadow or Grey Puffball 🔽 Whatever these are, they’re pretty
🔽 Looks like it should be a fibre cap, but which one? Don’t know. And it’s no longer fresh.
🔼 One of the Tufts, probably 🔽 Inkcaps. Love inkcaps, I can identify them!
🔼 More Tufts. Probably 🔽 ⏬
🔼 Rosy bonnet 🔽 Probably a Parachute
🔼 Oops, slipping down that rabbit hole trying to identify these. But the solitary is probably a Brittlestem 🔽 Tufts, or Roundheads. Or something entirely different
🔽 A Parasol, possibly the Shaggy
🔼 As we started so we finish with Puffballs 🔽
Hope you enjoyed
I hope to have more for you next week. Forecast is wet, wet and more wet. I hope we can get out. If not, I’ll plunder the archives again

There is definitely something special about mushrooms 💜💜

These are all amazing. Are any of these edible?

If I know they’re poisonous I say so. But I wouldn’t recommend you try any wild fungi without an expert to help you. I am far from expert.

Very true Crispina. I know here villagers know which ones are good to eat and which aren’t. In cities we hardly see any mushrooms growing.

I used to gather mushrooms with my grandma, but no, I wouldn’t trust myself

The “probably a parachute” ones are my favourite! They look like they are slowly floating down!

How could anyone not love the puffballs? They are my favorite.

And one that’s edible. Though they have to be gathered very fresh as they attract a collection of I edible creepy crawlies

So sad to see the season coming to an end. But it’s getting too cold for most of them

I haven’t seen the scarlet elfcups yet. They don’t usually put in an appearance around here until February, despite they’re flashing their little red cups elsewhere
