The purple one is beautiful! I have never seen anything like that before. It reminded me of a cabbage.

Always such a delight to see the variety you present to us – whether you know the names or not. That first one, though, is absolutely stunning and ethereal-feeling. Gorgeous.

Being out every week (almost every week) taking photos of the natural world, it really does drive home the natural cycles, not just the flowers’ seasons, the butterflies, the fungi, but the warmth (and lack of it) the rains, the heat, the cracking earth

Indeed it does. As does my almost daily walks around my work and my weekend walks mostly in the same places. You would think it would get boring but I’m always finding new stuff.

We like the unusual and the distinctive. It’s been a good season so far. But with a rapid drop in temperature, I’m not sure it’ll continue to delight us

There are several purple fungi, mostly the ‘jellies’. The ‘mushroom’ types tend to be paler, more mauve and amethyst
