So yes, we didย find plentiful fungi on our walk this week. I’ve had trouble to keep the numbers manageable, so many found. I hope you like what I’ve chosen. As usual, I only name those I’m fairly sure of. Enjoy…
Red lead round head ๐ผ and ๐ฝ earthstar, but there are several species of earthstar and I don’t know which this is
Parasols ๐ผ and ๐ฝ possibly lilac bonnets
Violet web cap ๐ผ and ๐ฝ I think it’s a brittlegill (Russula)
It looks like a wax cap ๐ผ and ๐ฝ these are definitely pink bonnets (Mycena rosea)
A common puffball ๐ผ and ๐ฝ โฌโฌโฌ probably the one everybody knows, fly agaric (Amanita muscuria)
๐ฝ I hesitate to name this one but it could be a scaly wood mushroom
That’s all for now, folks. Watch out for next week.

Quite the show this week. Any we may have had are now frozen as our sticking snow fell last week and it will be June before we see the earth again.

Oh, how horrid. Snow has benefits, though. I remember my father saying his garden looked as good as any of the neighbours when covered in snow. He was kidding; his was always the best garden!

Me too. Definitely my favourites. Although I get excited when I find the fairy take Fly Agarics and also the Parasols. Because they’re bigger, probably

I have to agree, Sadje. We’ve had very interesting showings this year. So far.

Thanks for sharing, Crispina. I have never seen such colorful fungi. Are they all edible? The pink one stole the heart.

Alas, no, not all are edible. Though I could quote a well-known author who said ‘All fungi are edible. But some only once.’
The reason I don’t like to name them is I don’t want anyone to go collect and eat because my tentative identity was an edible fungus when the true identity was poisonous. And there is no easy way to tell. The Death Cap looks remarkably like a mushroom you’d buy in a market
