The fungi season is still trugging along slowly due to our local lack of rain. But here’s a selection of what we found on our walk to Whitlingham Country Park on 6th October 2025. As before, I won’t name a fungus unless I’m a 100% sure of the identity. Enjoy
I get quite excited when I find these trooping types. These covered an entire stump πΌ
Sometimes you find the fungi poking their heads out from a fissured log! πΌ
I love the teeny-weeny fungi but they’re not always easy to get into focus, especially when deep on the forest floor πΌπ½β¬
This one looks like a southern bracket, but could equally be another, similar bracket. No danger of you eating it though you might use it to light a camp fire! πΌ
This next few are flamboyant dazzlers! πΌπ½β¬
This was a fabulous find to end our day π½
That’s all for this week. Hope to have more for you next week.
Hope you enjoyed

That’s all? I should say that was a virtual cornucopia of fungi! What a splendid variety!

You have a great biodiversity in your area. Lucky you. It’s a good sign.

Lots lots lots lots more to come in the coming weeks! I’ve been out with the camera twice since I snapped these. And the crop is getting to be bumper!

Do you forage and cook them or just take photos?

I’m not confident in identifying them (except the poisonous ones) so, no, photos only
