Bobbet Loke was more of a lane
A long and lonely lane
Beyond the village no houses were set
For none lived here till you reached the end
That’s where Old Mother Bobbet dwelt
A reputed witch, a real life witch
Yet come this autumnal season
The village children wouldn’t go near
No trick or treats demanded of her
At the mention of her name all trembled in fear.

She probably chased away a couple of kids who were helping themselves to her apples!

Perhaps the stories about here are over-exaggerated; then again, perhaps not. Best to err on the side of caution, methinks!
I love that you have so many interesting words, such as loke. I had never heard the term (of course I looked it up!)

Loke is commonly found in Norfolk. Whatever their original status, these days they tend to be what I would call a ‘green lane’, i.e. a road that the parish council didn’t consider worth metalling.

The house is old but not that spooky

But it is very isolated, and on the edge of the Broads where river mist wraps and writhes in eerie ribbons
🥰🥰🥰

And isolated houses are traditionally the settings for ghosts, witches, and other supernatural creatures, as well as serial killers in slasher flicks.

Spooky isn’t always crumbling, with cobwebs
