Old Wendell’s eyesight was failing, but we still trusted him to drive the cows out to pasture every day and back again in the evening. Didn’t think he’d not notice when the drawbridge was open. Ever since, the pasture’s been left to the natural vegetation and the birds. And Wendell’s taken a job as a traffic officer.
