Being the eldest, the biggest, the tallest, having the greatest girth, it was only natural that he should be appointed as leader. But that wasn’t a position he wanted. Rather he’d be like the slender youngsters who gathered around him, looking, watching, anticipating. But what could he say?
“It has come late,” he said. “Yet it has come. So no more shillying, no more shallying, we now will unfurl our buds, put out our leaves and welcome the summer flowers in.” But he couldn’t help adding, “Even if the wind might freeze them into non-being.”

Love this.

I loved the books and the movies.

Me too. Those movies got me through a long term illness. I had them on DVD complete with all the many appendixes and all those involved became like friends to me

How good for you. I used to read too when recovering from my different surgeries.

We all need company at certain times, even those of us who declare ourselves as reclusive by nature

Beautiful take, Crispina. Trees sure can communicate, if we care to listen.

Trees and I have been conversing since I was a child. I like to lean on the tree, and knock 3 times, just to let them know you’re a friend.
