Butterflies seen during my walk in the local cemetery on Sunday 28th July 2024. Gatekeepers, I find that rather suited to the location😎
It’s possible a couple of these are meadow browns, it’s sometimes difficult to tell from just the underwing and with males and females being slightly different.
Anyway, hope you enjoyed. I know I did!

These are so pretty 😍

It was a delight to see. They were everywhere, all busy in mating dances. Flirtatious flittering butterflies

How lucky you are that they stay so still for you to capture them! I have a devil of a time; if they do alight on a bloom, they are gone before I can focus!

I know what you mean. You can spend all day chasing them. I follow with eyes, camera ready. When they settle I’m already clicking, I click, move closer, zoom in to focus, click click click. For every in-focus shot there might be ten that are not. But I use a camera, I can’t do it on the phone. With a phone-camera, you need to be close and personal

Oh no, definitely not with the phone camera – good as it is, for this type of photography, it doesn’t work as well. You succeed!

What a beauty, Crispina. Wonderful shots. How did you manage? They keep moving from one spot to another.

Tip: Don’t cast a shadow. And while, yes, they do move about, a lot, they also rest up for a while. So then I take the shot before I get the focus, and I zoom, snap, zoom, snap, until I get the perfect shot. Fingers crossed. It doesn’t always work. I miss more than I capture
