Crimson’s Creative Challenge #282

Every Wednesday I post a photo (this week it’s that one above.)
You respond with something CREATIVE

Here are some suggestions:

  • An answering photo
  • A cartoon
  • A joke
  • A caption
  • An anecdote
  • A short story (flash fiction)
  • A poem
  • A newly minted proverb, adage or saying
  • An essay
  • A song—the lyrics or the performance

You have plenty of scope and only two criteria:

  • Your creative offering is indeed yours
  • Your writing is kept to 150 words or less

If you post a link in the comments section of this post I’ll be able to find it.

Here’s wishing you inspirational explosions. And FUN

They say that on stormy nights, when the going is too rough for the ferry to operate, you can hear the sounds of the old chain ferry crossing the Blyth. It’s something else, of course, for the chain ferry has been gone for decades. And you can go down to the ferry crossing and see that there’s nothing there.

And yet, every so often, some stranger passes through on such a night and claims to have crossed the river on the chain ferry. They are certain they were on a ferry that was pulled across, and they describe a vessel that rotted away years ago. And most curiously, if the ferry master pays them back in change, no coin or bill dates from any later than 1940.

    It must be a hoax. But sometimes I wonder . . .

    • I like this, Brian. It makes for a wonderful folk tale. I was surprised to see the ferry still running (if closed for our visit) since the old ferryman died a couple years back. But apparently his place has been taken by his granddaughter (I hope I have those details right)
