Additional pics from our walk on 9th January 2024. Enjoy…
We can always rely on ivy to provide winter colour, and not just the obvious green
Most of the ice has gone but this lingers on
Great Egret… looking great!
Long-tailed tit amongst the alder. These little birds are such speedy flitters, it’s a delight to catch this shot. I’ve been trying for years!
Hazel catkins. Yay. Spring’s trying so hard to appear
Irresistible colour caught by the sun
Alder catkins. That crimson brings welcome colour…
What? Fungus? Yea, in a sheltered damp place…
More remnants of the earlier frost
It was a flower… or rather, a seed case. Rose Herb Willow Bay
Call it as you will, Traveller’s Joy, Old Man’s Beard or Clematis vitabla, it provides most welcome subject for our winter camera
Hope you enjoyed. More from this walk next week

Old Man’s Beard is considered a noxious weed here.

There are several plants by that name. If it’s the same one, I can understand it, for once it’s established it can be quite rampant. However, to buy it from a garden centre/nursery costs over Β£30. Which to my mind is rather pricey. Apparently not easy to germinate!

What a fabulous and colourful selection. Congrats on getting the tit!
The second one almost looks like an oil patch.

Thank you. Not an oil patch, but ice!
And two days later there was a long-tailed tit in my garden. But it didn’t hang around while I grabbed camera etc. Bo-hoo!
