A few more pics from our walk on 28th December 2023. Enjoy
Some say bullrush, some say reedmace, we could argue all day
No disputing this: This is reed in seed
When all are shades of beige and fawn, a little emerald makes the day
Thankful to find more colour in the village…
A cluster of green hiding from the wind at Burgh Castle
I’d like to tell you what birds these are, but not a good enough shot to i.d. them
Hope you enjoyed our last walk of 2023. Next week, our first walk of 2024…and it was a sunny day!
Nice pics

So lovely. I love that you post weeks later! 😉
Never heard the term reedmace….

I try to keep at least one week in hand, just in case I can’t get out for whatever reason. Also, to do credit to some of the walks, it takes two posts, which then puts me behind again.
To me, old fashioned, they’re bullrushes. But I’m told the correct word is reedmace. So there you have it

You are so very organized 😉
They are bullrushes to me, too.

I try. And I’m happy you agree. Bullrushes they are!

Nice shots. If the birds were small, I’d say sandpipers — if you have them.
Your post title made me smile. I’d like to show you “winter’s limited palette” from out my window this morning. 🙂

You have black, white and grey too? Yea, though snow didn’t last long here. I think they were bigger than sandpipers but not as big as the ‘shanks.
