Mammy

Mammy was furious
But she always was
The slightest thing
She’d make a fuss
She fumed that the car wouldn’t start
She fumed that she’d now have to catch a bus
The bus was late
Of course
Nothing ever went right
That was Mammy’s fate
The hiccups at her wedding foretold this
Nothing went smoothly
She could expect no wedded bliss
Her man was late to the church
She feared she’d been left in the lurch
Now she raged of disenchantment
Already late for the psychiatrist’s appointment.
