Berries, loads of berries, some of them edible, some poisonous, from our walk on 2nd September 2023. Enjoy
Elderberry…caught them before the birds stripped them!
Bittersweet…do not eat
Ditto
Honeysuckle. Do not touch
Rose Hips, in ages past used to make a Vit C rich syrup. And very nice it is too
Not a berry but a flower. Hops, used to make beer last longer
Haws, from the hawthorn. They are edible, but I’ve never met anyone who eats them. Best left for the birds
Blackberries!
We think these are cherry-plums. When ripe, extremely edible. Lovely wayside food. They used to be a crop-fruit until EU ruled against them.
Hope you’ve enjoyed
Love it … you captured an aspect of the season.

Thank you. A shame most aren’t edible! 🙂

Yes and everyone should know that

I think the inedibles don’t taste nice. Though I don’t know for certain

I think you’d soon spit them out. Bitter, I’m thinking

I won’t lie. Berries scare me because of my lack of knowledge.
Rosehips make a lovely jelly, though!
Lovely pics.

That’s the way. Though as I’ve just said, nasty berries tend to taste nasty…I think. I haven’t tested that!

I wouldn’t take a chance.

Sensible. Neither would I. It’s the same with the fungi.

I’m not a great blackberry-eater. The wild plums are my weakness!
