Photos from our visit to Scarning Fen 12th July 2023. Enjoy.
For me, this Meadowsweet is the epitome of wetland flora!
Bindweed, the terror of every gardener. But it does look beautiful clambering over fences, the sun shining through those petals…
Vetch is another clamberer of fences…
Thistles need no explanation. They’re great attractors of bees and butterflies. But no posing today
Woundwort almost lost amongst the ubiquitous willow-herb…
So many species of trefoil, I’m not sure which this one, but it’s everywhere…
Toadflax…and bee…
Can’t resist a lady-bug (Bishy Barny Bees in Norfolk)
Meadow Brown, playing hide and seek…
Meadow Brown being showy…
A skipper and…?bug?…
That’s all for now, folks. More next week. Hope you enjoyed

Ugh. Vetch is all over my hydrangea… Bindweed – does it also come in different colours? I have yellow and purple ones all over my cedar hedge. Soooo hard to get rid of (even if their flowers are pretty).
I so love thistle. Prickly purple pleasure 🙂
Lovely share, my friend.

The difference between wild flowers and weeds! When walking the camera, I’ll take photos of alkanet (wild version of Anchusa) but I shriek when I see it in my garden!

I know! I refuse to call them weeds in the wild 😉 Of course, when they are choking my plants at home, I do not love them quite as much…

You and me both. But sometimes it makes me grin. Why do I go walking the camera to snap the wild flowers when here they are, in my garden!

I get it. But it’s still nice to go out and explore 😉

Oh yes, definitely. Not to mention the exercise. Did I say exercise? I’ve just come in from the garden…I’m going to hurt tomorrow!

My grandfather grew birdsfoot trefoil on his farm – 50 acres of those flowers.

Always my pleasure. Although it’s nice to look at my photos in later weeks/months/years, my main joy in taking them is to share

Crispina, I’m planning to publish a book with several of my short stories. I’m looking for a few author friends who would be interested in contributing one short story. No more than 2,000 words. Would you be interested?

Hi Phyllis. I very very seldom write short stories. But… I do have one that weighs in at 1919 words and is currently available to view on my blog:
See what you think. It has been read by other authors and favourably remarked upon. And thank you for thinking of me. 👍😃❤

Thank you, Nan. Interesting that it’s the flowers we don’t find so as garden flowers that you like best
