Before I moved to the coast, I had only to open my door and stroll to be amongst these wooded hills. Now (7th November) we bus into Norwich and bus out to Costessey. But it’s worth it…
Photos taken just a month ago yet the trees were still so vividly green!
Overlooking the River Tud valley AND being at the end of a terminal moraine provides the woodland with plenty hills!
Those hills have preserved the trees, ensuring the land wasn’t taken in for grain-growing
Out of the woods and down the lane a way, we cross the River Tud and detour along its bank where willows hold sway
Now we’re over the river, it’s not a long walk to the next wooded hill
We’re heading now to what used to be a common
Being on gravel and sand, the parish council would set those claiming Poor Law aid to quarrying. Those quarries now have flooded and the land around them grown some trees…
I have a love of these pools; like some enchanted place
An earlier attempt to rain now become worthy of the word. But that’s fine cos we’re now heading home, another two buses.
Hope you enjoyed
Very refreshing scenes

Lovely scenery as usual Crispina! My heart sank when you mentioned you moved away. Our house is too big for the two of us. We’ll be selling our old rambling house with 3 acres of land. I walk out the door and up the path to my Eden every day. Happy Holidays

I can’t stay away. At least twice a year, I have to return. I so miss that woodland. And thank you for your wishes, and I wish the same to you
