As a young child I had difficulty articulating words… until I started school and had speech therapy. It was hard work and annoying for a child of five who would rather be outside playing with friends. Three words/phrases I remember caused me the most trouble: “Yellow”, “Sausage” and “You’ll do”, which I pronounced as Werrow, Totidge and Yodel.
57 words written for Sammi’s Weekend Writing Prompt: Yodel
I have to ask.
what are the eyes on the sausages made from?

I’ve no idea. I looked on Pixabay for yellow sausages and this was the best I could find

As a Speech-Language Pathologist, I can relate to those being difficult sounds for some kids … I would have made it fun for you, though! 🙂

The therapist gave my mother exercises to take me through. Endlessly saying Yerrow

Thank goodness for speech therapy. What is cute on a little one is not so much so when then get older and teased as a result. Lovely share and take on the prompt.

The only time anyone’s commented was in my last job when one the community workers was always making jokes about it. So much for being non-judgemental!

If this is true, it’s a delightful anecdote! If it’s not true, it’s a delightful write regardless! How sweet…

It is true. It’s because of my problems with speech that I grasped writing to such a degree… it was the easiest way to communicate. And now I’m a published author.

Difficult times, but very fitting for the prompt 🙂

Thank you. Mostly I’m over it. But I still might mangle my vowels, esp diphthongs,

Absolutely delightful and a great take on the prompt! I couldn’t possibly eat one of those werrow totidges, they are too cute!
