Here’s how it works:
Every Wednesday I post a photo (this week it’s that one above.)
You respond with something CREATIVE
Here are some suggestions:
- An answering photo
- A cartoon
- A joke
- A caption
- An anecdote
- A short story (flash fiction)
- A poem
- A newly minted proverb, adage or saying
- An essay
- A song—the lyrics or the performance
You have plenty of scope and only two criteria:
- Your creative offering is indeed yours
- Your writing is kept to 150 words or less
If you post a link in the comments section of this post I’ll be able to find it
If you include Crimson’s Creative Challenge as a heading, WP Search will find it (theory)
by ‘Searching’ in the WP Reader (fingers crossed)
Here’s wishing you inspirational explosions. And FUN
“There, son, that’s a historic spot. That bench up there is where I met your mother. Also your first stepmother. Also your second stepmother. They were all college friends back then.”
I tried to imagine it. Trying to imagine my mother as a college student, just like the women I date now, was hard enough. Trying to think of those three as friends was even harder. Too many years of having to attend divorce and child custody hearings took the shine off the notion. And Dad had left out Renata, my current stepmother, no surprise, because she was stepmother #1’s younger sister, and was too young to be in college with her sister.
And yet, Dad and that bench gave me an idea. If I could only get all my half-siblings together there at that bench! Maybe it would fix some of what was wrong in my family.

I really like this piece. Had me hooked from the word go. I expected something nice and romantic after ‘That bench up there is where I met your mother’. And boy, am I glad you surprised me!

Thank you, Britta. That’s about the way it went for me, too, as I was writing it.
And I see you mention on your blog that you’ve been living northeast of Glasgow, in Condorrat. My own mother originally came from northwest of Glasgow, in Milngavie. Been around there only once myself, on an “ancestors tour,” many years ago.

I admit, I was expecting the same… even though I know Brian better than that. If he can get an iota of humour in, he will!
