The story goes that William and Victoria Bradshaw were buried there, and a tree planted by their children on the grave to commemorate their marriage. But Bill and Vicky hadn’t been the most happily married pair. They quarreled incessantly, and Bill often went storming out of the house at the end. When the main trunk split into two branches, a few people snickered that Bill and Vicky were fighting still, even in the afterlife.
And then came the Great Wind Storm of 1957, and half the crown of the tree was lost. Old Bob Smith, who was a bit of a wit, took a look and said, “Guess Bill went stormin’ out of the house again!” And I guess he’s not coming back.
