Crimson’s Creative Challenge #139

Welcome to my weekly challenge—open to all—just for FUN, FUN, FUN

Here’s how it works:

Every Wednesday I post a photo (this week it’s that one above.)
You respond with something CREATIVE

Here are some suggestions:

  • An answering photo
  • A cartoon
  • A joke
  • A caption
  • An anecdote
  • A short story (flash fiction)
  • A poem
  • A newly minted proverb, adage or saying
  • An essay
  • A song—the lyrics or the performance

You have plenty of scope and only two criteria:

  • Your creative offering is indeed yours
  • Your writing is kept to 150 words or less

If you post a link in the comments section of this post I’ll be able to find it
If you include Crimson’s Creative Challenge as a heading, WP Search will find it (theory)
by ‘Searching’ in the WP Reader (fingers crossed)

Here’s wishing you inspirational explosions. And FUN

The Queen of Elfland was treacherously stabbed by Isolda, one of her ladies-in-waiting. After killing Isolda in revenge, the servants bore the queen on a sedan chair along this road back to the palace. They had no other way to carry her, and she insisted on sitting upright to greet her husband, the king. People say that every time a drop of her blood fell on the road, a tree sprouted up.

The king came out of the palace to greet the queen on her return. She was still sitting in her chair, upright, as befits a queen, and with a smile on her face, as befits a queen greeting her husband. But she was dead. They buried her right there, and over her grave rose a garden of wildflowers, which you can still see in front of the palace to this very day.

  10. This path had a walk it needed me to take. A story it wanted be told. Not for itself, perhaps, but for the feet that walk paths like it.

The dappled light was intriguing, so Lucy followed the path. It beckoned her forward, a gentle whispering in her mind. There was a pulling; a desire so deep that Lucy could no longer ignore it.

The path soon became even darker as she entered a thick forest. An owl hooted, startling her. As she walked further on, a small hut appeared as if from nowhere. An old woman in a long, flowing dress came out to greet her. The owl flew to the woman and landed on her outstretched arm.

“Do not be afraid, child. I have beckoned you here for a reason. Come forward into the light. You are to be given a gift, the gift of magic.”

“Magic? But who are you?” Lucy answered in surprise.

“I am your grandmother, and a sorceress. Now my magic will be passed down to you,” Grandmother said, as she pulled out a wand.
