CCC129: Old Man of the Woods

Crimson’s Creative Challenge #129

Old man? But he would be old if he had lived; he was older than me.

“I’ll be waiting for you right here,” he said every time we parted. “Even if I die, I shall still wait here for you.” And me, the callous bitch, married his brother within a year.

Thirty years since I’ve been here, his brother now joined him in death. And what did I expect to find? His ghost? No, just this carving, done as a self-portrait he’d said.
