The brighter the light
The deeper the shadow
All artists know this
Why then expect our loved ones who shine to have no defects?
Why expect them to be through-and-through perfect?
Why be shocked or feel betrayed when we discover our assumptions incorrect?
The light casts a shadow of the self, distorted
Perhaps the self that we’ve not courted
But that’s no reason to leave the loved one unsupported
Love both the light and the shadow, love them both unthwarted.
