Is it a Crime

Those who regularly read my post will know that while I write rhymes that occasionally pass as poetry, I don’t do the romantic stuff. But here I’ve been challenged (thank you, N.R. of EntangleDesigns), and so…

Is it a crime to walk back in time?
To find you there, to find you care
A crime to change our destiny
Then let the gaolers incarcerate me
Let them throw away the key
They will not halt these memories
The sight of your face
The throb of that bass
Fingers lingering in caressing
Lips and hearts meld in kissing
The rhythms mounting, beats not missing
Aye, and the disloyalty we’re both confessing.

Is it a crime to walk back in time?
That we might play that same old song
For love freely given can’t truly be wrong.

And here’s a track to go with it. The only one possible.

Oh this makes me so happy! I am grinning from ear to ear! That song and that poem are a perfect match (she said while doing a chef’s kiss!) πŸ˜„ Thank you for writing this and don’t you ever say again that you can’t write a poem about love because you nailed it! 😁😁😁

Well lookit you Miss Thang! This is absolutely wonderful! Don’t do the love thing. Pfft! You lie!
All teasing aside, this was truly lovely and methinks the memory part is why.
Course with Led Zep, you nailed it…

    • Thank you. I to cast back to a memory… but it worth it.
Maybe that’s why, when we’re younger, we form such strong memories, so when we’re older we can drw on them to write poetry

  6. That last line reminded me of a belief I have: there’s nothing like listening to an old song from the tinny radio of an old car. It’s mesmerizing.
