Red light slipping into yellow
Tones everything it touches mellow
Through the windowpane, it peeps
O’er the windowsill, it creeps
A welcome in the room it fills
Contrasts with the seeping chills
That this autumnal time of year does bring

Oops, accidentally deleted you. Had to go hunt for you in the trash can. And all I wanted was to thank you. Thank you.

You’re welcome! No worries. I do it all the time.

I have always wanted a stained glass window. Maybe someday… Your words make me want one now though…..

That would be glorious. I have crystals hanging in my window. But it’s only the hall, cos that’s all that gets direct sun. Still, in the mornings, it’s fantastic. Enchanting.

This was absolutely lovely, Crispina.
Now… what to write about this lovely image?

I thank you. And I know it looks autumnal, but the photo was taken, May-June time.

I thank you. Although I choose the photos, I seldom know what I’m going to write. And I looked and I looked and… I was walking across town, to the supermarket, when the poem formed.

Beautiful poem. Mellow yellow, warming light…warmly welcome indeed now the weather has turned colder and more autumnal 🙂

It came while I was walking across town. Initially I was blank on it.

Lovely Crispina! I love the way the light becomes a living thing, peeping and creeping.

Thank you. And so it is a living thing.

Your poem describes autumn so well, my favourite season. Where I live, though, there are no red and yellow hues in the trees. Most are evergreen. But when some tiny brown leaves fall with a breeze, they look beautiful. Have you seen autumn Cherry blossom? They look stunning.

Yes, I have, and yes, they do. And while across the Atlantic everyone talks of autumn, and autumn colours, in UK our trees are barely turning. A few yellow leaves, is all. Autumn comes late to us, after colliding with Christmas

Christmas must be really beautiful then. 💕 I haven’t seen changing colours myself.

With some trees it happens quickly, with other so slow you don’t realise until, wow, what was green is now copper. Though some few shrubs turn purple.

I have seen some shrubs who are “born” purple. They look great as well.

I have some cherry trees growing near me, they have purple leaves too. Ornamental, not native.

Would you share a picture of it someday ? I am longing to see it.
