As of yesterday, crimsonprose has a new name. Mine. AND a domain. Yep, after seven years of hiding behind the blog’s name, I’ve arrived. crispinakemp.com
But other than that, nothing changes. All links remain. Your comments will reach me just the same, whichever name you chose to use.
Reasons for this amazing [😊] change?
Crimson has been purloined. Used as a dot.com with capitalised C & P by someone who specialises in “Adult erotic literature”. I do assure you, that isn’t me. So, thought it time to change.
Exceptionally good reasoning! Although I admit I had a really good chuckle! Still laughing LOL Sorry 😊😏

Yea, I laughed too. And it serves me right for not checking on the name more often.

Yah I know. I also discovered one of my posts had been reblogged from a reblog. My names on it but I can’t find a link back to mine. I saw it in the reader.

Be flattered. Although they ought to tell you.

So all I see is the prompter’s name and photo

Do you want to explain that in more depth by email, cos I@m not sure I’m getting what you mean. And don’t panic if I don’t reply straight away. Friday night is phone my Dad night.

From now on the title link will only contain my name and the post name, not the prompter The prompter will be linked of course

I don’t add in all the frills. I only do the link at the end of the post. Though I notice many of the others who do the same prompts do, indeed, include everything. I’m just plain lazy

Ho ho ho, a likely story, perhaps, it should read “Crisp in a bag,” perhaps, bet you never thought of that.

Sorry, I was being somewhat dense yesterday. So this morning, with my head into writing, I suddenly caught what you’d meant. Oops, dense; double dense.

Sorry for someone stealing the other one, but welcome. 🙂

I thank you. I was holding back on the name changed. It’s going to be needed when I put The Spinner’s Game on KDP. It just brought it forward by 3 to 4 months.

Good move. I wouldn’t want people looking for you and dinging only that. You’ve so much more to offer!

I’m so embarrassed. How many times have I told someone, “Just google crimsonprose”. Back in 2012 when I started, that would have found me and only me. But now … Oh dear. But not any more.

This is great Crispina! But every time I click the “like” button in my email to come to this page it tells me it’s a “suspicious link.” It has done this 3 times today. Do I need to re-follow you or something? ❤

WP says it can take 72 hours to get the smooth connections. Which is why I thought I ought to warn folks of the change. You could try to refollow.

Thanks Crispina! Since this is the first day, I’ll wait another few days to see if it resolves! ❤

Here’s hoping it does. I had a similar problem when someone else changed their name. I think it’s cos the search engines in some way.

But you know, it is nice to find your name at the top 😉

Indeed. And it was a change waiting to happen.

I got through to you through WordPress Reader, for what that’s worth.
Sillyverse had the opposite history: when I started blogging, the dot com name wasn’t unavailable. But a few months later, it opened up, so I jumped at it. And, just to complete the comparison, my name as a dot com was not available, as another with my name took it years ago.

See, this is the advantage of having a really odd name. Yes, there are some Crispina’s about, but none with Kemp. I’d googled it first.

Well seems like the forces of the digital universe have led you to the right place…your own author domain! Perfect and timely! Getting that donain done is especially great since we all would be shocked to find how many people actually share the same actual name. I was completely bummed to find my name so not unique in the greater world out there. So good you secured yours in case.
Congrats!

It seems no one else has my name. I’d already googled it. A few Crispinas; loads of Kemps, but not the two together. I am… unique! But then, I always knew that 🙂

Oh dear, now that you mention it, it *does* sound like a clever name for an erotic adult site to choose. I’m so glad for you that you found it out ahead of the curve, and not after some horrible misunderstanding!
This is making me wonder (again) when I should go ahead and start paying for my own name domain..

None of us like to pay if it isn’t needed. I’ve gone seven years on the freebie. But earlier this summer I committed to a yearly licence for Pro-Writing Aid (in my opinion well worth the money), so why not my own domain. Times past, I have had two before … before CFS and encephalitis scrambled my brain, but they were full sites, designed by yours truly, from scratch, not even a template. Back in the day.
So yea, time comes … don’t leave it too late and then find your desired name is gone.

It’s a risk to wait, I know. I’ve looked into it, and would want to get not only my name but also “Tales from Eneana”. Given that I’m barely posting on the site that I have now, it feels like more of an expense than I can justify, but we’ll see how that calculus changes in the near future. Luckily I, too, have an unusual name (although there is one other Joy Pixley out there that I know of).

You could buy the name by the cheapest means, and hold it till ready. As long as you remember the yearly fees. WP isn’t the easiest route, just (for me) the most convenient

I haven’t checked in a while, but last I did, the cheapest means I found wasn’t cheap enough for my frugal self. I’ll check again though.
