Two white geese
Two white geese
Hear how they squawk
Hear how they squawk
They launch attacks on the intruding thief
Who scuttles back and rapidly leave
None are better for guarding the peace
Than two white geese

My husband’s aunt had a white goose on her farm and they called it the “Watch Goose”. Several people I know got nipped by it ๐

They certainly let you know when there are people about.

It’s so true, my grandmother had two.

Don’t see them so often now. Maybe there have been lawsuits?

I heard that about roosters, so most probably all domestic birds. โค๏ธ

Nice! My experiences are with Canadian Geese. That’s another story! ๐

Yea. These white geese have been farmyard bred for so many centuries, they’ve clean forgotten life in the wilds. I’m thinking they might be descendants of the gray lag.

It’s a shame they’re disappearing in the wilds.

White geese? Grey lag? Canadian?

But were they ever a species of the wilds? I thought them merely a domesticate, descendants of the grey lag.

I don’t know. I just assumed they would have been. But with breeding practices who knows. Actually they have a similar look to a Snow Goose,! I wrote a short bio on THE SNOW GOOSE on my Blog. Great movie and book. You should look it up or check out my post. Great History! Can’t remember which war.

I checked out on wiki. In the east the white domestic goose is a domesticate of the Snow Goose. But in Europe it’s a domesticate of the grey lag.

I think I understand now why I was confused – I was like, “What goose is white!?”
