Not sure of the species, but I’m thinking possibly a dapperling. Just get a peep at that textured stipe. Wow. That and the cap, a bit of a giveaway.

Like the elves might bash you over the head with them!

They are quite dapper, indeed.

I’ve seen hedgerow trees take the same shape. Don’t know who is copying who. 🙂

Nature is fabulous, isn’t she?

There before us, and she’ll be there after we’ve tied outselves into self-denying knots and died.

I had to look up skittles, but now I see what you mean, yes! And I agree with Dale: for mushrooms, those are pretty dapper. On the other hand, you do seem to find a wide range of dapper mushrooms — you have the eye!

Ah. no, Joy. You haven’t seen my pile of rejects!

I would say true, except shrooms that are broken and battered don’t make for good copy. And so many fingi look alike. It’s finding something distinctly different that’s the awkward part.

Well, you do a great job. I had no idea that there were so many different kinds of mushrooms until I saw your photos. And those are only the mushrooms in your area, imagine!
