Aww, poor Marvin 😦
That’s a lot of emotion in only two lines!

I don’t know how many people will catch to the name. But Marvin was the paranoid android in Hitchhikers Guide. A favourite of mine.

Oh, I confess to not catching the name. And, I’ve not got around to reading that yet – gasp! There are so many books that I want to read, but finding the time to read them all is impossible… 😦

I think you’re allowed to cheat on that one and watch the movie. Though the movie isn’t as good as the tv version. And the tv version not as good as the books. Lo! Isn’t that always the way. But the books aren’t whooping great thick beasties. Thin enough to slip into a duffle-coat pocket, if I remember.

I’ll have to add them to my 2019 “want to read” list…

Well worth the read. I’d be interested to hear your response, whether they now read as a little bit dated. I know at the time I read them I felt inspired to write a ‘Time-travellers’ guide to Prehistoric Europe’ with the same kind of treatment. But … long ago. I think it boiled dry, left too long on back-burner.

Ooo…A Time Travellers Guide to Prehistoric Europe – I would love to read that!!! I used to write (mainly flash) fiction set in the Palaeolithic, but I’ve not for some years…

No, I am not going to do it! Too much on already. And also, we’ce so much more information about our prehistoric roots now, and though I try to stay up to date, yikes, new stuff is coming in, so fast. The date for the first evidence of everything keeps getting pushed back. When beer was first brewed. When textiles were first woven. When grains were first eaten (apparently Neanderthals ate haggis — or at least oats cooked in some animals intestines.

I agree. It would be a fun read, but would become outdated very quickly. And yes, it would be a massive project to undertake when you have so much on…

Yea, also, my understanding is greater now, There was less variation across the regions than once was thought. And people are more away, so not so easy to bluff it. There’s always someone like me around to say, no, that’s not right. Even though it would be by way of humorous fiction.
