The early morning of 9th March 2026 I’m peering through a heavy mist. But it’s very early yet, it’ll clear (such confidence). So I make my way across town to join my daughter, for this morning we are heading south across our county border. Please join us
Destination #1: Gunton Meadow & Gunton Woods Nature Reserve
🔼 I enter the woods from the meadow and turn back to take this photo… cos I have a love of bridges and gates 🔽 Clearly a fairly recent addition to the woods. Loads of cherry trees here, but for now we’re happy to see the primroses and daffodils
🔼 Into the woods-proper, mist thickening, more daffs 🔽 Flowers and leaves together, this must be a cherry-plum tree but we’ve never visited when it’s in fruit to confirm that
🔼 No sign yet of the mist dissolving… 🔽 but plentiful signs of spring arriving with leaves now erupting
Destination #2: Gunton Cliffs and Gunton Warren, another nature reserve but of a very different nature. Beware where you tread, adders sleep here
🔼 The mist is thicker here than it was in the woods 🔽 See? We cannot see the sea!
🔼 My favourite shot of the day! The heather might be crisped and drying but the gorse flowers are a rage of vibrancy 🔽 The Norfolk and Suffolk coasts were thoroughly defended during World War II, but those same coasts have since been subject to rapid erosion, the WWII relics swept into the sea. Except here! A look out or a gun position? I’m not sure
🔽 Where cliff meets beach a natural spring floods out
🔽 And we can’t leave the shore without seeing seabirds! A cormorant and 3 great black backed gulls, one mature, two immature
And having arrived here, we’re now off to find some lunch. Hope you enjoyed. And no, that mist didn’t clear, not even by late afternoon

very nice Pictures

It was. And that mist magnified our enjoyment of it
