12th October 2024 looked to be a sunny, rainless day. So again we took our cameras south of the county border to two small woodlands, both of which had been ensured preservation by their status as nature reserves. Join us…
As you can see, here is a little bit wet with water channels conveniently bridged
This first woodland is more ‘managed’ than is the second
It is home to several old thick trunked trees (more of those in Tuesday Treats)
A place to sit and share the sandwiches…
A much-needed bridge over the muddy drainage rill
We cross a meadow, pass under an old railway bridge and soon we’re in the second woods
This tree-girt pond defines this second woodland which is altogether more ‘wild’
There are even dragons lurking in the undergrowth
A woodland glade, rich in the colour of beech trees
Hope you enjoyed…

Thanks for the virtual tour, Crispina. Loved these glimpses into the woodland. I think I like the second unmanaged more than the other one!

And yes, I prefer the unmanaged woodland. Those few photos don’t really do it justice.

Glad to know you’re with me. From the few photos I saw, I loved the place. I imagine it must be very beautiful indeed if you feel those photos don’t do it justice π

It’s far more extensive than I’ve shown you. But also there are areas which are closed-in and dark. Not easy for photos but great for the imagination!

Looks like an amazing place for a hike and a picnic! I never see people in your photos is this on purpose, or don’t many people hike where you do?

I prefer not to include people… because I’m posting them on internet and many people don’t like that unless you ask. I even prefer not to include motor and boat registrations. Perhaps I’m over cautious, but a previous employment involved taking photos of children’s activities, and you don’t go public with that without parental permission π

It seems woodlands are featuring quite a lot this season, for me. But open fields and country lanes have less to offer
