Sunday Picture Post: Fritton Woods

14th November the day starts with thick mist, though it’s clearing by the time we get off the bus.

We have to walk a mile or so from bus stop to woods along a sandy lane…passing this

This is a pine plantation. But silver birch is everywhere…especially where the pines have been felled over recent years

The plantation abuts the marshland through which the River Waveney flows…and so as we near that edge we find old drains, such a contrast with the otherwise sandy heathland

After recent heavy rainfall…the erosion

And it’s back along that sandy lane to catch a bus home
