Sunday 11th September dawned thick with mist ā which made for an enchanting walk in the woods (see last week). But our destination was Lound Lakes, a nature reserve on the Norfolk/Suffolk border.
So… out of the woods and onto the road, threading through arable farmland
Till we come to the field with the cattle
Don’t worry, we’re safe on this path. Those pine trees ahead are part of the reserve
And into another woodland. Mostly *planted* pine, but native silver birch form an elderly understorey
And oak…
We cross a road and pick up a second path…
Which delivers us to an accessible part of the lake
This being a Sunday the place is alive with families which, alas, scares the wildlife away!
But those silver birches sure are photogenic
The sun now is strong, blasting us as we cross this meadow
Ah, blessed relief, back into the woods! But see that gate? We won’t be here long
And up over a hill and down again to catch our bus home
It’s been a beautiful Sunday walk. Hope you’ve enjoyed it.
Beautiful pictures Crispina.

What a wonderful walk. I could feel the cool of the woods and the heat of the open fields.

That’s exactly as it was. No more heat for us now, though. Now we’re having to dodge the rain

We have had a ridiculous amount of rain. But I am not displeased with the cooler temps š

I appreciate it being cooler. And we had 2 days when it didn’t stop raining at all. And a couple of days when the rain fell from the sky like coal into a cellar!

I do, too. As did we. Thunder and lightening and rain coming down so bloody hard.

We’ve not had much thunder…they’ve had it inland but it hasn’t reached us

There were a few rumbles that went on and on for over thirty seconds. Rather impressive.

I miss the thunder. Before I moved here, wow, such noises!

Weird how you don’t get any!

It tracks down river and out to sea. All we get is in the distance
