Nay, lad, now don’t you call out too loud,
You’ll scare away the Nithings who live down by that drain.
Aye, lad, you don’t want to scare the Nithings.
But what are the Nithings? I hear you ask.
Why, lad, they be nothing but the darkest of happenstance.
Why begin the New Year with Sense and Sensibility… I’ll leave that to Jane Austen. Instead I’ll begin the New Year with Jest and Frivolity.

That’s what we need. Light hearted and funny stories.

Jest, frivolity and the beasties that live down the drain….. Excellently told!

Thanks, J. But I’d say yours is the better. 🙂
Not that this is a competition.

I had the thought of something living in the drain as well.

Yea, it was what, though. This time last year I featured a bridge, beneath which the trolls lived. So I’d used up that one. But… something Nordic about it, hence the Nithings, with means Nothings

I did like the name of them.
So far all I have is something that lives in the drain. It probably has tentacles and lures people in and then snatches them. Or something like that.

Sounds good. Ramp up the foulness… rotten, slimey, stinking… gross 🙂

I loved your response to the prompt! I wish I could get my mind to conjure up something as good! Great job!

Even though I’m the one to select the photos, I never know what I’m going to write… until within an hour or so of when I write it. I find doing the washing up is good for inspiration, and walking to the shops (not back again, cos then I’m loaded with groceries.) 🙂

That was a wonderful way to bring in the new year! Jest and frivolity and Nithings!

Thank you, Dale. It seemed to me the mood needed lifting… the grey winter skies are just too depressing 🙂

What fun! To frivolity (and isn’t that a GREAT word?).

It ought to be used more often. Fun is fine, but it doesn’t carry the same thrills as frivolity 🙂
