Continuing our walk of 21st October. From atop Mousehold Heath we now descend through the trees and down to the river. The mist has cleared. The sun shines from a clouded sky. Enjoy…
The trees are late in turning colour this year; we’re noticing it everywhere
Just a yellowing of leaves… even the bracken is retaining its colour away from the sun
Ah! But this hidden flame is surely an ‘alien’ maple! It’s on the edge of the heath, close to gardens
River Wensum… and her swans (5 cygnets, seen several times this summer as we’ve passed along the river)
A riverside walk skirts the cathedral grounds
Looking towards Bishopsgate Bridge, the oldest surviving bridge in town
We must leave the river to cross the bridge…
Norwich cathedral, as seen across the cathedral school playing fields
Iconic Pulls Ferry, graces every calendar that features Norwich. The ferryman Pull provided a vehicle crossing at this place
And so to return home by bus. A thoroughly enjoyable day. Hope you enjoyed too. Next week we’re heading into farmland…and woods! Hope you’ll join me then
Beautiful pics. Enjoy the greens while itās there.

That’s how it’s been over recent years. I think the trigger is temperature and we’re having mild autumns

Weather is all topsy turvy all over the world.

Yea, extreme. We ought to be spiralling into an Ice Age. But we’re heading the other way instead thanks to all our *wonderful* efforts.

Indeed. Hell bent on destroying the environment

I think no one has done it with intention to destroy. You don’t destroy your own home. But there are a lot of money-blinded people in the world

Too many people acting in greed

There will always be people who are motivated (and blinded) by greed

The third picture looks like the trees are having a meeting. Very beautiful images.

Thank you. The 3rd pic? That’s all one tree. A silver birch. I love the contortions the silver birch manages to mangle itself through

I didn’t realize it was one tree, it’s beautiful.

I think the main trunk had been cut, and these trunks have grown from the bole. It’s the principle of coppicing

Seasons are very late turning this year, our spring is still to make an appearance

Climate change is causing so many issues

Climate is always changing, nothing new there. Just… we’re kinda hurrying it along. In early 1970s the fear was a return of Ice Age, and certainly the extremes of weather would suggest it. But it seems we’ve turned that around, heading in the opposite direction. And I cry for what’s happening worldwide

I swear, your countryside is straight out of a fairy tale. So pretty!

Oh my goodness. These are gorgeous. That bridge shot could be sold as a jigsaw puzzle; everyone who buys it will stare at the reflective water, imagine walking the old bridge, and hear the autumn leaves in the wind. -and you get to see it in your own backyard!

I was a bit concerned with that photo. There’s a sign warning of work being done, and I do try to avoid signage when composing a photo. But here I wasn’t able

I always want to cut out power lines and people.

Me too! Though occasionally they can work to advantage

I’ll have to think on that one. -Maybe if they’re wood with vines creeping up them.

If you compose the photo right, they can lead the viewer’s eye to where you want, without the viewer being aware
