There’s a seal colony further up the coast from me. Sometimes we see their dark heads bobbing in Breydon Water, or at the harbour’s mouth. But it’s unusual to get a good view. Yet this little fella wanted to play with me, inviting me to join him in the sea. I took loads of photos. Very difficult to decide which to use. So… I’m giving you two
Fun and Games, another title achieved in Maria’s Antonia’s #2020picoftheweek
I had a friend who got a bit too close to a seal and her pups and ended up being chased down the beach.

I can well believe it. All mothers are protective. This wasn’t so young. But there were 2 bigger brutes further out to sea… keeping an eye out, I suppose

I can see why you had a hard time picking just one. I like the look in his eyes in the second one, but I like that you can see more of his body in the first one (and can therefore see that he’s a seal). Also the lighting in the first one… Oh! Glad you posted both. What an engaging little guy! I’m ready to play. (But the water looks a little cold!)

It’s the North Sea. Even in summer it’s cold!

It was magical. That seal just coming in through that surf and looking at me, as if to say, Come play.

I was thinking it was exactly that. Magical. And they do look like they are saying that!

I can well imagine. Such a cool thing to happen, though.

I was just hoping to see a head or two. Maybe even manage to get a photo focused in time. Incredible

Thank you. I’ve about 20 photos of that seal, mostly close.

Even when they just look like wet giant sea slugs, seals are cute. I remember running into a pod of them sunning themselves on rocks in Scotland when I visited that country years ago.
