Ringland Hills, 6 or so miles outside Norwich, is a wooded delight that overlooks the River Wensum. At this time of year, it’s an essential visit. I’d love to be able to name all these fungi but the one thing I’ve learned about fungi since photographing them is they’re devilishly difficult to identify with certainty.
It’s the first of these I’ve ever found. And a good-sized one, too

No, not sliced banana on sticks…
Yes, it has been raining… a lot
Hope you enjoyed. Until next week…
Love the pics and your interest in fungi. Seems you have many varieties in the region! The bananas line made me laugh. Have a good rest of the day.

It’s been a good season so far. Lots of new ones for me. And so many resemble kitchen rejects!
As to the rest of today, I’m hoping to get out for a short walk. I have a 10-miler scheduled for tomorrow.

Me too. First time seen. And it was so visible, not hidden as many fungi are

What an interesting collection of fungi you’ve found for us. That coral mushroom is amazing! And I do always forget that mushrooms can be concave and collect rainwater. I must remember to put that detail in a story someday.

I love it that my photos are helping you to worldbuild

Me too! Although both world building and writing are more hypothetical than real these days. Still, it’s nice to keep thinking about writing in some backroom part of my brain until I can get back to doing it for real.

I do admit to being much slower prepping Learning to Fly than I was with The Spinner’s Game. My health has so improved that I’m now able to walk 10 miles every day. But if I do that, when do I write? Compromise. Hence delays
