The rhythmic whoosh and whish of the sea drew Melusine on.
Down river she swam, avoiding the hooks of the anglers there.
She just wanted to see the sea, just this once.
But she had been warned not to stray that far
That her body couldn’t tolerate a thalassic environment.

Thank you. Most people think mermaids are saltwater creatures. But the Melusine is freshwater. The most famous Melusine was supposedly the founding female of the House of Anjou
