I remember when you left us
Cold and lonely on this shore
No light nor gold within our life
Gone from us forever more.
And here and now you do return
Head hung low, remorsefully
Barely strength to greet the day
Expecting us to welcome thee.
And I say, welcome to thee
The New Year’s Sun
This photo was taken New Year’s Day as it finally emerged from the mist
Is that the remains of a pier?

No, it’s mostly buried groynes (sea-defences/breakwater). The beach keep growing. But if you want to make it a pier, that’s fine 🙂

Beautiful.
And any appearance of the sun, no matter how faint, does bring some joy, doesn’t it?

It did that day. Thick fog to start the New year! Was that a message from the Universe?

I like the photo. The poem was an emotional roller coaster that ended with a smile. Well done!

I wanted it to be ambiguous until the end. Are we talking of a person? But no, the poem is to the sun
